Mary Ward, 1585-1645, founded the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, known in Australia as Loreto. Convinced that women in time to come will do much, she believed passionately in the education of women to their full potential and
to the highest contemporary standards.
This is the 23rd year of the Mary Ward Grant, and the Loreto Sisters are proud of the women who have benefited from the grant to pursue theological studies.
This is a partial grant, equivalent to fees in the range of 1-3 course units, with occasional larger grants. Grants are
proportionate to total costs and an applicant’s financial need.
Priority is given to Catholic lay women. Other applications will be given serious consideration.
Grants are offered at the discretion of the Grant Committee. Applications are treated confidentially on an individual
basis, with no discussion on the outcome.
