Joe Fleming has worked in Catholic schools and Catholic institutions for almost 50 years. His academic and teaching focus is Religious Education and the conversation that discipline has with theology, leadership and the nature and purpose of Catholic schools. Joe’s doctoral work focused on the role of Religious Education Coordinators in schools and how they perceive their roles. Post-doctoral work at Cambridge University focused on qualitative understandings of Catholic Identity, through the telling of personal stories. Having retired as Campus Dean of Australian Catholic University in late 2017 Joe continues to undertake work at ACU and at YTU – in between the delights of travel, gardening, golf and being with his grandchildren.
