Larry Nemer, a Divine Word Missionary (SVD), who lectured in Church History and Mission Studies, has become a “Lector Emeritus.” He continues to teach not-for-credit units and reading units in mission and church history and to supervise Master’s and Doctoral theses. He was the Founding President of the Australian Association for Mission Studies and continues to chair the Editorial Board of its journal:Australian Journal of Mission Studies.
Larry has a Licentiate in Missiology from the Gregorian University in Rome, a Master’s Degree in Church History from The Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.), and a Doctorate in Church History from Cambridge University (UK).
Before coming to Australia in 1991 Larry taught at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago for 20 years. He has also taught in the Philippines several semesters and in London at the Missionary Institute London where he was also President for six years. He has given retreats and workshops in Vietnam and Papua New Guinea.
His field of specialisation is Mission History — especially the 19th Century Missionary Movement from Europe.
