An orientation session is held for all students at the beginning of each new academic year on the Friday before the commencement of semester followed with a light supper.  YTU also holds a separate orientation session for International students before each Semester commences.  The date is posted in the YTU Handbook and on our website under Academic Calendar.

You are welcome to join us for the Inaugural Eucharist Welcome mass and the End of Year Eucharist to celebrate the academic year and any students graduating.

Course planning takes place between the Academic Dean or Research & Education Coordinator and student each semester.  This is a way of monitoring the student’s progress and making provision for tutoring needs, or other forms of appropriate support during the student’s time of study.

FEE –HELP  (Fee Loan Scheme)

For the most up to date information on FEE- HELP please refer to the University of Divinity’s website.
Your College will apply for an eCAF (electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form) registration number on your behalf. You will then receive an email from the Department of Education and Training inviting you to complete your eCAF.   Applications for FEE-HELP are made online through eCAF.

Academic Skills
For new international and domestic students YTU runs a Not for Credit unit: NN1000Y Introduction to Tertiary Studies in Theology. This course runs for 9 weeks each Semester and is free if studied in conjunction with any other unit.

Students are introduced to St Paschal Library staff during the Orientation session, and encouraged to take a tour and become familiar with the friendly staff and library resources.

Please note that the UD student I.D card is needed to borrow from all libraries associated with the University. When you visit different UD Libraries you will need to register before you borrow for the first time.

Educational IT Systems
The University has three major IT systems used by staff and students for learning, teaching and research:

  • ARK = the Learning Management System, used to support all units at the University.  Instructions for access to ARK and related resources are sent to all NEW students prior to the commencement of Semester.  Units can be accessed 1 week prior to commencement of the unit.  Access to units are closed to students 2-4 weeks after the end of the unit.
  • Library Hub = digital library resources including databases, journals and e-books
  • TAMS = the Student Record System, providing access to enrolment data and results

YTU employs a Chaplain, on a part time basis, who is available to speak with students on a needs basis.  The Chaplain provides for the spiritual care of the YTU Community.

Weekly Eucharist is celebrated as a community each Tuesday of the Semester at 12.40pm in the Common Room.   Heart of Life hold weekly Eucharist on Thursday’s at 12.45pm.

Emergency Procedures
During the Orientation program and first class of each semester, Lecturers advise Students of the evacuation plans and the locations of the first aid cabinets.  These plans are posted in every classroom and all common areas of YTU.

iUSE Pass for Public Transport
Undergraduate Students on VISA 500 (only) can save up to 50% on public transport by using an iUSE pass. Interested students can contact the Registrar for an iUSE passcode. The student enters this code online to apply for an iUSEpass Myki card. This will arrived in the mail in two weeks.
